Iran's Minister of Education Ali Asghar Fani along with senior officials from the ministry and academic figures visited the holy site on the occasion of National Teacher’s Day on Sunday.
Iranians celebrate Teacher's day on May 1 in memory of Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari, a great Muslim Iranian scholar who devoted his life to teaching and writing in several Islamic fields and disciplines of knowledge.
Iranians considered teaching as a sacred profession and sustain a special respect for those who strove so hard to increase their knowledge.
It is worthy to mention that Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari, a prominent pupil of Imam Khomeini, rendered great services as a great scholar, cleric, lecturer, and politician. Late Motahhari also played an important role in unifying the universities and the theological schools.
Imam Khomeini trained several scholars like Motahhari who largely contributed to intellectual growth of the entire Muslim world.
Morteza Motahhari was assassinated on May 2, 1979 by a member of a terrorist group.
In a historic message, which was released following martyrdom of Motahhari, Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, had recommended the young generations, university and seminary scholars to pay special attention to precious works left by Motahhari. Imam Khomeini stressed that all valuable works left by Motahhari are of great value and significance.
