In a recent interview with the Tasnim news agency, Mohammad Tai, a professor at the Beirut University, said that Imam Khomeini’s historical move foiled plots by some countries for normalization of relations with Israel.
The intellectual stressed that the initiative by Imam made it difficult for certain parties that sought to establish normal ties with the Zionist regime of Israel.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Tai noted that the declaration of a day in remembrance of Palestine drew positive reactions from many Islamic nations. However, he added that enemies are attempting to introduce Iran as hostile to Arab countries in order to put an end to the Quds Day and serve the interests of the US.
The international Quds day is marked every year on the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

International Quds Day is seen as the legacy and initiative of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Back in 1979, shortly after victory of the Islamic revolution, Imam Khomeini named the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan as Quds Day.
