The 6th international conference of "Role of the Ulema (Muslim Scholars) on the Islamic Awakening", attended by more than 700 foreign and Iranian scholars was started today in Tehran; the special committee of this two-day conference leads a discussion on significant subjects of Muslim world including the issue of Palestine, Islamic resistance, and the role of religious figures in boosting Islamic Awakening.
Current conference, similar to last year assembly titled "the Youth and Islamic Awakening" is open to all Islamic groups to express their opinions about the recent developments.
“When the wave of Islamic Awakening swept across many Arab countries back in 2010, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, who is the harbinger of awakening in our era, said that this wave would add to the grandeur of the Islamic Ummeh and would cut off the hands of domineering powers,” said Velayati, the Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening.
The conference centers on the following themes:
1- Role of the following Ulema (Muslim Scholars) on the recent developments known as Islamic Awakening: Sayyid Jamal ud-Din Asadabadi, Hassan Albana, Sayyid Ghotb, Eghbal-e Lahuri, Muhammad Abdo, Imam Rouhollah Khomeini, Abd ul-Ghader Jazayeri, Muhammad Bagher Sadr, Ezzeddin Ghassam, Sayyid Ismail Balkhi, Navvab Safavi, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei.
2- Opportunities and threats the Ulema face in Muslim World
3- Desired governmental system in Islam
4- Position of the Islamic Ummah in the future
5- The Holy Prophet, as the axis of unity among the Islamic Ummah
It is worth mentioning that International Affairs Department of the Institute for Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini’s Works by attendance at this important conference in addition to presenting cultural products from the works of Imam Khomeini managed to conduct different interviews with Islamic scholars from across the world with the aim of publishing them on Imam Khomeini’s English Portal.
