The late Hujjat al-Islam Mohammad Ali Jamati, who recently passed away and had been in the service of the Imam for many years, had narrated the following about Ahmad Khomeini’s special attention, devotion and efforts for the succeeds of the Islamic Republic system.
Hujjat al-Islam Jamati, once accompanied Imam’s son during a spiritual journey for Ummrah pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca.
He recalled that Seyyed Ahmad Khomeini used to get busy in worshiping God the Almighty and did not want to be recognized there by any person about his status because he wanted to devoted his attention to supplications and prayers during this spiritual journey.
“It is interesting to know that his prayers were for the success of the Islamic Republic system in Iran, and he was so passionate in their prayers that I, sitting next to them, could not help but cry and shed tears,” Jamati said.
Imam Khomeini had highly trusted his learned son during tough years of struggle against the Shah regime and its backers.
It is noteworthy that Seyed Ahmad Khomeini remained the most trusted figure and right-hand of Imam Khomeini during the tough years of struggle and following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
The great Imam and his son deemed the Muslim Ummah a single society and used to attach great significance to issues facing the Muslim world.
Seyyed Ahmad Khomeini’s role was to make sure the revolution lived on and stayed strong. He showed his support and defended the main goals of the Islamic revolution.
Time and time again he would say that he wanted to remain the Imam’s son and supporter of his values and ideals.
After the Imam’s passing, Seyyed Ahmad did not accept any official administrative posts, saying, Seyyed Ahmad rejected any high-ranking post, saying, “If one has a motive and a goal, he can serve the system and the revolution even without an official position; nay he may serve better and more easily under such circumstances.”
